Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deal activity in the oil and gas industry witnessed a decline in terms of value in Q1 2022, with only $59bn worth of deals announced, a fall of 41% from Q4 2021, according to GlobalData’s latest report Global M&A Deals in Q1 2022– Top Themes by Sector.
Additionally, the report noted that the count of billion-dollar-plus deals dropped to 11, compared to 26 such deals in the previous quarter.
The data and analytics company reported that the decline was observed across most regions except China in the APAC region, where the deal value in Q1 2022 more than doubled compared to Q4 2021. However, China witnessed a fall in the volume of oil and gas deals over this period.
